Crossing the river: 3 Haiku

Tentative steps
to the water's edge, the mare
shows the herd the way.

One by one, the herd
in search of greener pastures,
crosses the river.

On the other side,
their journey ended, they find
water, shade, and rest.

I'd like to dedicate this space to the memory of the Lechuza horses that were so
tragically taken from us on Sunday, my condolences go to Victor Vargas and all the players, grooms
and trainers on the Lechuza team. We are all involved in this sport because of our love of the horses,
a loss to one is a loss to us all.
